I think I speak for nearly everyone in Minnesota (and probably Wisconsin) when I say I'm ready for spring. It was sunny and 33 degrees in Northfield this afternoon and it felt pleasant without a jacket on. Sad. Sophie and I walked downtown to meet Shari at the Northfield Arts Guild's Imagination Celebration, accompanied by the uplifting sounds of melting snow all the way.
I feel like I haven't quite gotten the hang of 2008 yet, perhaps because of its inauspicious commencement, perhaps because it's been really goddamn cold. I have high hopes for late May and onward, however. Once Shari's done directing Northfield High School's spring play (Holiday, by Philip Barry) and Sophie's circus performances are out of the way, we've got a road trip to Austin to look forward to and maybe, if fortune shines upon our overscheduled lives, four or five days during the summer when we can spend the whole day doing nothing. And by nothing I mean working on little projects around the house, but nothing involving a car, a phone, or a computer.

33 degrees and no jacket on?! It's about 60 degrees here. Brrrr! Jk. Oh how I love those days when you get to nothing. I know what you mean about it not feeling like a new year. Too much going on. Have fun on the road trip!
